What is your opinion of freshwater baths for new fish?

I am new to SW and I just lost two wild-caught ocellaris clowns to some hideous disease.

In addition to quarantine, I thought I might give them a 3-5 min. freshwater dip when I get them. I've heard pros and cons on that. Can anyone give me advice on whether to do it and how to do it? Thanks!

Quarantining is the best treatment. As the other thread indicates, only exposed parasites will be treated with a FW dip. Ich, and internal problems like bacterial infections and other parasites will not be affected at all, and may stress the fish without helping. As with any treatment or medication, do not treat unless you know what you are treating.

dont make the treatment more harmful then the sickness, Keep in mind when doing a fresh water dip your pet is taking on more air then what their gills can handle.
