View Full Version : Is my DIY CO2 setup OK

Have I setup my DIY CO2 setup in a safe and effective way?

I simply used 6mm T-bar airline tube connectors to connect the 3 reactor bottles together...

Then they all connect via 1 T-bar into the tank.

I have a non-return valve on the line just before the tank.

Just wanted a quick check in I was doing this fine, or is there something I've not thought about?

I like to keep my bottles seperate.
Only thing i can think of is when you unscrew 1 bottle to refill the gas - you will be losing pressure from all the linked bottles.

sounds good. most likely you will just need to switch the bottles so its not like you have to open them up a lot. the only thing i could think of would be a bubble counter. just so you check the co2 output.

Like the bubble counter idea, thanks.

I've also bot clamps, so when I remove a bottle for changing theres no escape of gas.

My intention is to refresh my CO2 mix on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in line with the days I do 10% PWCs.

Thanks for the advice, sometimes when you do something new, you think, "is this right"?!!!

Thanks, any other comments welcome too!

Thanks Mgamer.

I was using a 2 litre 'Coke' bottle. I wasn't happy with this as I felt the shaped bottom end of the bottle was holding residue and the height was prohibitive for effective CO2 release. So I spent the extra cash and bought specific bottles from the lfs...its kinda a mixture of a DIY setup and ready made, if you know what I mean?

The good thing is I do have the black plastic CO2 proof tubing.

Suppose originally I was worried that the bottles feeding into one pipe might somehow block each other with pressure differences at different times.

As fun as that may sound (!!!!!!!!!!!) I really dont want a CO2 bomb!!!!!!

So, thanks for the replies...really good to get opinions on new little ventures.
