This is my first try at aquatic plants - I got an assortment of plants and put them in ecocomplete in a 29g that I'm fishy cycling.

Overall they look pretty good (it has been about a week) but about half the plants have one leaf or stem that has turned brown and is, well, dying.

Should I worry about it or just prune off the brown parts? It seems weird to me that a plant would have four healthy looking green leaves and one brown leaf that looks awful...

EDIT: I forgot to say that the light is 65w @6500k on about 10 hours a day, plants are swords, crypts, java fern, anubias.

yes, prune off the brown leaf.

It is not uncommon for swords and the like to "sluff off" some leaves when transplanted.

you should see the new leaves coming up in the center of the sword.

Make sure you use a root tabe if you don't have flourite/laterite etc. in your subsrate.

swords, crypts, anubias etc. need a nutritious substrate.

Ok thanks!

They do have root tabs and I've also been using a little Flourish twice a week.

it happens. maybe its not getting the light or its just a die off. take off the dead parts.

Just out of curiousity, when should I worry? If the whole plant starts to look crappy?

when it all starts to turn brown.

did you plant them a stem at a time or in a bunch?

A stem at a time, spread out around the tank with bigger things toward the back. Would it be better to clump them up?
