I herd somewhere that you don’t need to treat for chlorine if you have a sump, due to the water dripping. Is that true?

If you net out all your fish, then do water change, run the tank for a day or so, then pop the fish back in then yes.
I dont think the chlorine will evaporate that fast. it would end up killing off bacteria in the sump and possible the fish if you performed a large enough water change. if it were my tank i wouldnt chance it. and are you sure your water system uses chlorine and not chloramine? if you have chloramine it could take more than a few days to evaporate.
A new aquarium myth - they breed like flies.
A sump has no signifacnt impact on chlorine removal in any time frame important to the fish.
