Does my Jack Dempsey need bubbles (an air stone)?
Or is it unnecessary?

maybe. in most tanks they are not needed. most tanks get plenty of surface agitation. what kind of filter how big of tank?

I like them for surface agitation...my Jds don't care. Others play in them, like the loaches.

He doesn't seem to even care that they are there. The filter I have drops the water back into the tank like a waterfall, so theres plenty of agitation. The tank is in my bedroom, and the air stone is the loudest part of the tank, except when Jack decides to spit rocks at the glass. lol
Maybe I'll just unplug the air stone in the nights.
