My oscar has turned kinda mean in the last few days, he kinda stays in 1/4 of the tank (hes not lying on the bottom or anything, just staying in that part of the tank) and looks at himself in the glass and sometimes attacks it, and we used to stare at eachother I would go really close and he would just kinda stare at me and dance a bit. But now he attacks me! and he attacks the other fish! and at night he knocks one of the big rocks against the glass HARD. it wakes me up!
sounds like normal cichlid behavior. what other fish do you have with him/her?

if he knocked a rock over, he must be big, or those rocks werent very staple in the first place.
i second dudes request, what is in there and how big is your tank?

The word isn't staple or stable, but the concern is whether the rocks were secure. The rocks could easily have been stable, but, if not somehow cemented together, they could still be moved. Check the bottom of the tank for cracking.
he could be a she. sometimes mine gets territorial, she makes a nest kinda, doesnt lay any eggs, but picks a corner for a few days

might be the nest thing you mentioned, it isnt a big rock, about 1.5 inches diamater, I just threw a few in to mix around with the gravel.
He is in a 50 with 1 little fish and a 2 inch green terror (I know, they wont fit I just havnt moved him out yet)
Are you sure its attacking you or is it just hungry?? Mine gets really excited like that when he hasn't eaten in awhile and goes up and down the tank frantically with its little mouth going crazy bumping into the glass. I can't see an oscar challenging you for territory all of a sudden, and as far as it being aggressive to the other fish, maybe the green terror has recently challenged it for territory and it feels threatened now

once a day when I get up. should I up it to 2, and reduce the amount of food a bit? (its a fairly big feeding in the morning, like probably 8 of the biggest hikari pellet)

does he not eat any live food????
Ding.... I'd up it to 3 times a day and add some live food in there as stickshift was hinting at. Give him some brine shrimp, earthworms or of course some well quarentined well fed feeder guppies

I rotate to balance out a diet for him. I give mine on day 1 cichlid flakes in the morning, wardley shrimp pellets after work, and cichlid flakes at night. then day two he gets wardley shrimp pellets morning, 3 feeders in the afternoon, and shrimp at night, day three he gets tetra bloodworms in the morning, wardley's shrimp pellets and his new found joy (very surprising) Nutrafin processed tubifex worms, his favorite by far is the shrimp pellets. He goes absolutly ape **** when I wiggle the can in front of his tank. he recognizes the orange canister over everything else and gets highly excited. after day 3 I start the process over again occasionally mixing it up along the way throughout the day but I usually go with that pattern of choices per day.It wouldn't help to mix it up though. just make sure he has a varied diet if you want the best from him if its even a he lol.

yeah he, she who knows? I am breeding guppy's now for (hopefully) a chain of feeders to use once in a while
Thats the best way to do it, breed your own. It keeps cost and disease down.

8 pellets is not enough. you could sit in front of his tank just puttin gin a handful and he/she will eat them all...put in another..gone...another...gone.....the oscar will probably sit there till the whole box of pellets is gone :D :D they give new meaning to the word hungry lol.
seriously though this is a good way to find out an apporpriate amount to feed him in one sitting. just keep puttin ghtem in over the space of about 5mins untill either 5mins has passed or he stops eating. I vote for the 5mins passing first :D
