So after one of my Emrald crabs died four days ago. My cleaner shrimp and my other emrald crab went missing. Today, I noticed one of my hermits (one of the bigger ones) fell off a rock and couldn't correct himself so I moved a rock to get him and when i moved the rock a big chunk of another hermit crab fell from it (looked liked it was chewed on some) Also, when i moved the rock about 6 or 7 Maggot-like worms popped out and got caught in my pump flow and went everywhere. So I did a water test.

Amn=0
pH=8.3
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=20 (it went up again after going down some)

So I can't figure out whats going on. Anyone have any ideas?

Im from the fw side, but my guess is you have something dead in your tank, your nitrates are way to high..you should do water changes to bring them down..and find what is fouling the water and remove it asap..

how long was it from your last water test before those posted? the nitrate could be caused from the deaths in the tank...you need to get rid of as much as possible....if needs be, take the rock out and give it a good blast and scrub in some new saltwater to give it a clear out..

As Blue says above, start also getting some quick water changes done to being them nitrates back down to sub 10 minimum....

Anything thats dead in the, get rid of as quick as you can...
