Converting freshwater to SW

Do I need to cycle my tank again? Does the good bacteria die when the salt is added? I had my freshwater tank running for about 2 years and converted it to a SW tank this last week. SO is cycling a must?

The kind of freshwater bacteria and saltwater bacteria that you want are two different kinds of bacteria. The freshwater bacteria did not survive when you converted to saltwater, so yes, you will have to cylce your tank.
