I got the visi-therm stealth 100 watt heater for my 20 gallon tank today. I have noticed the difference immediatly, with the all-glass heater i used to have the temp would go up and down 1-2 degrees all the time, it would either be like 83 degrees in the morning, and 80 degrees at night, never stable. But with the stealth, it is at a constant 81 all day. Thanks everyone for the suggestion, im sure me and my fish will like it a lot. Now i dont need to worry about a heater over-heating and cooking my fish :)

one thing so many people over look is heaters. they will spend all this money on filters yet go out and get a cheap heater.
glad you picked a good one this time.

I myself have a Visi-Therm Stealth heater, it is possibly the greatest heater I have ever bought for an aquarium. You never have to worry about it breaking and hurting your fish. I would never buy any other heater ever again. Definitely recommend it!

Just wondering why no one mentions Rena Cal Top Light Excel heaters, is it because they cost more ? The 300 watt we have regulates to a 1/2 of a degree. useing 2 digital therms.on each end, constant temp is between 77.5 and 78 under controled conditions....Thank's....

yeah i got danios but i also have bolivian rams, the danios are fine in this temp, no behavior change from when i had them in 74 degrees. But higher than 81 they start to act different and lower than 81 the rams act different. So 81 is middle ground.
Also another great thing about the heater is that i set it at 81 degrees.... and its at 81 degrees, if i set the all-glass at 81 degrees it would be at like 90 degrees. Only con i can think of is that there is no light that shows you when its on :(

The no light is a plus for some of us. More than one story over the years of the bigger cichlids attacking heaters when the light came on and off.

just because it costs more doesnt make them better.

I did'nt say they were better, but they seem to be accurate, I was just wondering why no one seem's to be intrested in them, maybe because they cost more....

i found making more flow around the heater stops it.
or pull it out and give it a good clean.

I think imma pick one up on Ebay. What's a good wattage for a 10 g? I would like it to be on the higher end of being okay as far as wattage goes, incase I ever decide to get a bit of a larger tank :)

I wouldn't go any higher than 75w on a 10g. I use 50w heaters on mine.

My heater was maintaining temp just fine, until the outside temp rose to 90+ yesterday - guess its time to turn our air conditioner on. Either that or get a chiller.

Well, one reason they werent mentioned is since the title of this thread is about Visi-Therm Stealths. The advantage IMO of the Stealth is that it is black and isnt made of glass (i.e. shatterproof). They are in a thermal plastic case with aluminum core, no glass. The accuracy seems great, but the cal top might even be more accurate I am not entirely sure. My only complaint is they dont make any higher wattage ones. I'm currently looking to heat my 240G w/sump up a good 10*-12*F over ambient temps (78* from 66-68) and I feel like putting 6 heaters together is silly. So I might be looking for some higher wattage heaters but I am not sure which is reliable since I've always just trusted Visi Therms.
