I don't believe so (different genera), but a Platy may very easily get swordtails pregnant.

And it probably is possible to breed mollies and platies through the use of hormones...;)

yea you could do it if you got tons of moneya dn extra time, and people around here (AC)m probably wouldnt like it since there are not too many people who like hybridizing fish.

We can do a lot of things with hormones and genetic splicing, but are we all in agreement that it is not possible to do so naturally?

i am in agreement that a molly and a platy cannot breed. unless some1 proves to me otherwise

No, it cant be done naturally. As I said before it would have to be through the use of strong hormones. Many fish are bred through hormones these days, including bala sharks, red tailed black sharks, sucking loaches, clown knifefish, etc...(just incase you were interested). And if you are interested, you may be interested to learn that the main hormone used is from the pituitary gland of carp, which are sacrificed for that purpose in Asia. The chorionic gonadotropin hormone is also regularly used for breeding marine fish in Spain.
