Well after nearly three years in keeping a marine aquarium, this morning I finally did it! Just doing the standard weekly water change, equipment ready, fresh water mixed and heated, syphon tube at the ready.......

.... You guessed it - I sucked waaay too hard, straight down the back of the throat!!!! I'm trying hard to keep the images of fish poo and wee out of my mind but nope, they're there :eek:. I just keep telling myself - think of the protein and next time DON'T SUCK SO HARD!!!!:duh:
 
Why dont you have a self starting syphon? they work perfect, just shake it and your off .....better than having fish poo or even spawning leftovers in your mouth. :puke:

It's never been an issue before but suddenly it seems like a good idea!!!!

Edit: just ordered one!!

Did you order a (python system) I've had one for years and it works great the only problem is the water pressure if you have low water pressure it will not work, other then that they work great
 
I just ordered a cheap one that you squeeze to start. My tank is so much higher than the carrier I syphon the water into, that once it's started it's no problem. It's just that initial "suck" I had problems with:laugh:
 
think of roast chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and a creamy gravy sauce with corn and bacon. Mmm i think this does me more good than it does to you.....
