Six months ago I bought four Diamond Tetras. They have grown and are beginning to look very good. Today I bought another "baby" Diamond because I couldn't believe the colour could be so different from the ones I already had (and besides, I wanted another one :) )
The first four have dark fins - one with white edges and the rest with yellowish edges. The Diamonds with yellowish fins all have a yellow tinge on the body too, in addition to the multicoloured sparkles.
The new Diamond Tetra is more like they are described in the books with pastel mauve coloured fins and a decidedly pinky coloured dorsal fin. The body is paler too, with the sparkling scales just beginning to show some colours. Altogether it is a much more showy looking fish.
So, are there two types of Diamond Tetras?? or did I have all females and now a male??
As I have never seen a shoal of these fish as adults I am at a loss.
My search of the web hasn't been any help, but I know one of you guys will have the answer. :D
