DIY filter intake covers

I've heard of covering my filter intake with nylons to prevent my fry from getting sucked in it. Have any of you tried this? I was wondering how to prep the nylon and how to secure it.
I was thinking that it'd be find to rinse it and zip tie it... am I wrong?

thats what I would do, I assume its for an external? I ws doing this on my internal but flow reduced quite a lot

just put the nylon over the intake and use fish line or zip tie to hold it.

i use sponges. they basically keep on its own. gives greater surface area and keeps more stuff out.

Its for an internal. I think I'm going to try it seeing that I've already suffered the embarrassment of being a grown man buying pantyhose.

I used a media bag but I'm sure the hose will look much better. Did you buy nude or black?
