Alright... got my first fish today. After consideration and speaking with a few, I went with a Maroon Clownfish and anenome. I know it was recommended to wait by a few, but a few others said it should do well. So, I went with it. So far, it seems to be happy. I really want to move it someplace else, but oh well. The problem is that I lost the sheet of paper that I wrote it's name on... so if anyone knows what kind of anenome it is... I would really appreciate it.

I also picked up a Pacific Recordia - Yuma. It really grabbed my attention. Once I got it home though... I realized that all my other softies were read. So, I'm on the look out for orange, yellow, and blue. Green isn't a big fan of mine, but may make an exception some time.

Right now:
Maroon Clownfish
??? Anenome
1 Serpant Star
2 Pepermint shrimp (not photographed, can't find them)
1 Sally Light Foot
1 Flame Scallop

Standard Mushroom
Red Mushroom Coral
Long Stem ZOAs

I got ~80lbs of live rock and ~60lbs of "base rock" that's been in my system for about a year. I'm thinking that it's starting to seed, etc.

My water parameters are dead on for the most part. 8.2 ph. 0 ammonia/nitrates/nitrites/phosphates. Calcium needs to go up a bit as right now it's at 400 and want to get it around 450. Temp is ~79.

I plan on going on Dr. Fosters tonight to get some MarineSnow, Essential Elements, Tech CB Part A &B, and 2 Koralia power heads.

Also - I'm currently in the process of building a sump now. I got the 37G tank today and will be sketching out the attached sump. Finally, in ~2 months I plan on making the HUGE jump to halides so I can start getting SPS corals and clams.

WOOOOO. Sorry for the long post. Just freakin PUMPED UP!

Thanks.

Not trying to boost my ego or anything... but how does the tank look overall?

Just trying to make sure I'm doing the aquascaping right, etc.

The only problem I see with the tank is the rock scape. It is a dangerous set up. I highly recommend drilling the rocks and pinning them with 3/8" doll rods made of acrylic. That would be much safer.

Yumas are not fond of bright light so keep him lower when you do the upgrade.

The zoas are starving for light. That is why the stems are so long. Raise them up.

If you are using a glass lid remove it so more light can get in.

Make sure you get good Salifert test kits for phosphates, and alkalinity.
I would use DT's phytoplankton instead of Marine snow.

Wow... never really thought the rock scape was THAT dangerous. I'll have to research more into that... as I doubt I can use a regular drill bit, etc. Could I use under water epoxy, etc instead?

Thanks for the tip on the Yumas.

I'll have to look for a spot to place the Zoas. I've been hoping to upgrade the light a bit, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I've removed the lid just recently.

Testing for phosphates... haven't tested for alkalinity yet though.

Any reason to use DT's phytoplankton instead of MarineSnow?

yeah. definatly go with DTs. dont even bother with marine snow with a flame scallop. They are pretty picky for the most part as far as particle size.
