I did a lot of research into community cichlids and came to conclusion the best ones were Apistos and Rams.

I looked into keeping them along with all my other fish and Shrimp (Bamboos and Amanos).

However, I'm now reading that Apistos will eat Shrimp!

And the reason for posting is that I've not seen my Amanos for 2 days and one of my Bambos for a day...not unusual in itself, but worrying now nonetheless...any help / opinions please?

Well its not so much immediately while the shrimp have their hard shells, but more so when they have molted and are vulnerable...I wouldnt advise keeping apistos w/ shrimp on any level, but thats just me

They will get eaten... my pair went through 30 ghost shrimp like a fat boy in the buffet line.

Thanks guys, I think thats whats happened.

They dont seem to bother the Bamboos, but then they are bigger than the Apistos.

I've just got another 6 amano, but I'm keeping them in a breeding trap. When my 10G Fry tank is cycled, I'm going to put the Amanos in there.

Frustrating...think I'll ask for a nice big tank for Xmas and fill it with Dwarf Cichlids...no Shrimp.
