Anyone here have a female mbuna PRETEND to hold eggs in her mouth... My M. Greshakei female seems to be pretending to hold... i can see in her mouth when she takes in a breath and i see no eggs but she is puffing her throat and not eating like she has eggs... this is the second time shes done this... for info she is lil over 3 inches long in a species tank of 5 females and 1 dominant male...

well just cause you dont see them dont mean there not there cause if shes not eating and her throat is puffy then shes got to have eggs..... it may not be many but there some there im sure of it...if the eggs are fetile then it could be up to 21 days before shes going to have free swimming fish if there not fertile then just one day she will start eating again which means she just ate the eggs cause they are no good
 
I have a female that will "hold" just about anything if she has not laid an entire mouthful of eggs. Usually I find she has a few eggs. Once however, she was holding small shells and snails. :huh:


Just watch her. They tend to eat them if they aren't fertilized or drop them.
