Tank Alteration?

it is ok and/or safe to remove the center brace on my 37 gallon all glass tank to make room for a larger power filer?

I most definitely would not recommend this under any circumstances. The center brace is there for a reason. It bears a lot of the outward pressure on the tank, and removing it will undermine the structural integrity. Unless you're looking to have a lake in your living room and itching to buy a replacement tank, I wouldn't go messing with the support braces.

Just think about this for a second. The manufacturer of that tank spent an extra $2 and 5 extra minutes of somebody's time putting that brace in there. If they thought the tank would be OK without it, they would have just skipped that step.
