Here is another video, i just turned the lights on for it thats why the corals are dull. I have been syphering the water and making water changes. I may turn my lights off for a week. Is this a bad idea? It was hard to get some of the green algae on the substrate with the camera but you can kind of see it on the walls.

Excellent video!!! Tank looks great. Too be honest i don't see much Algae - I could see one patch on the side of the tank (I think) but i wouldn't fret over that. What kind of cleaning crew do you have? You may also want to adjust your powerheads or introduce another one.

Thanks Cat, right now i have:
4 crabs that i do not know the name of
5 blue legged hermit crabs
1 scarlet hermit
3 astrea snails
2 margarita snails
1 turbo snail
1 nassarius snail
1 cerith snail
1 cleaner shrimp
1 brittle star
sorry about the spelling. I am currently running a Maxi-jet 1200 and my aquaclear 70 filter which has some flow. I have an aqua C skimmer coming in 10 days which has another maxi jey 1200 on it, then i am also going to add 2 Maxi jet 600's and remove the filter.

I'd just try moving the powerhead to point in the direction of the algae just to see if that keeps it at bay. I have a stubborn patch of the stuff and I keep placing my biggest snail on the patch to eat it!!! I certainly wouldn't fret over it - at the moment!! just out of interest - how long do you leave your lights on at the moment! And paranoid me would also suggest keeping an eye on your phosphate leverls if you are worried about it.

i kept my lights off for 4 days, but then i noticed my corals really needed it so i have starting increasing the light by 1 hour a day, i am now up to 4 hours, 1 hr with the 10,000K and 3 with the 50/50 actinic, then i turn then all off and turn the moon lights on at 8pm.

also my test results were all good, i took it to my LFS (got them do most tests)and everything was peachy.

My problems were overfeeding, using tap water and leaving my lights on too long, and not having a skimmer, these caused the cyno bacteria build up. I now feed every 3 days, getting a skimmer soon, reduced my lights and use RO water. I guess you live and learn.
