Hi, I have a 55 gallon corner tank, only resident is a tiger red oscar. Is he too much fish? I don't really feel the need to populate the tank he is 3-4 inch. Have a gravel substrate, had a powerhead but was noisey and it looked like a lot of work for him to swim, have a whisper filter and using an air pump and stone for the ugf. If it were necessary or possible I would add a couple chiclids or maybe plecostemas...help. Any constructive criticism. Btw, have had the tank for years, sat empty and recently restarted. It used to be a community tank until a major kill took everything.

Help.

Thanks.

i say just keep him in there and train him.. treat him like a dog (but youll have to move him out.. and plecos dont really do much for a tank like that...

Being a corner tank, I think it will eventually be too cramped in there to add any other fish. It might even be cramped for the oscar as they can get to at least a foot long. You might also want to upgrade your filter since oscars are very messy eaters and just produce a lot of waste. I would recommend a large canister filter like an eheim 2217.

It will do for about 6-8 months then will need at least a 4' 55 gal. I would reverse your UGF to RUGF.
