hello, iv been here for about 2 months now as freshwater, i have a 40gal long tank that i love, i just bought a 35gal hex tank today, Q: I really would like to start a saltwater tank, i was wondering if it would be easier to convert the 40gal long into the saltwater or use my hex tank,, i really only see rectangular saltwater tank online, if you could send me a link on a site that would help me out that would be GREAT , thanks, my grandfather has a saltwater aquarium so the $ factor is not really an issue, its just the pros and cons that in worried about , again thanks alot Bryan

Doesn't matter what the shape is, well sort of, you obviously want as much surface area, so shallow, rather than deep is better. But the most important thing with marine is volume, as volume means stability. Unlike fresh water, toxins in salt are up to 100 times more toxic to fish. inverts, and corals.

I always think of an elevator full of people, and passing wind, and lets say, it stops between floors as well...... The passing wind may be something dying, the stopping between floors is a power outage, now if you were in a stadium, would you mind if one of the front rowers did a fart?

personally, if it was me, i would go with the 40L....fish like to stretch themselves when they swim so giving them a good length to do this is going to be very beneficial to the fish...However, saying that, it boils down to what fish your looking at having in the aquraium..
