recently on my trip to the beach to go spear fishing i found a tiny star fish about the size of a 5c piece. is it possible to take him home and slap him in after qing him? (i know theres prolly laws against this). or will this cause problems?

dunno... they take LR from the ocean, and they dont clean it well seeing as my friend had a blenny in a small piece of his LOL

prob not a good Idea since the ocean has billions of micro-organism that you cant replicate in your home aquarium. Id say it wouldnt last more than a week or two before it croaked.

buy all means, if your allowed to remove things from the ocean where you live, bring it home, take a pic and keep it in QT untill we get an ID...then make your decision afterwards based on the info that is found about the species...

I've seen people take home fish from the ocean. Not sure about the laws- where are you located?

Did you decide to take it or leave it there?

You most probably find that all things that make your fish sick are already in your tank, and like us humans, it usually takes other external factors to fall prone to these, like that **** job I got (stress). I put heaps of crap I collect from the ocean, sand, water, urchins, bit's and bobs, little fish. If anything I think it diversifies my environment. However, you need to properly id the star, they can play havoc.
