I need to get an auto feeder for when I am away on vacation for a week. I am leaning towards getting the Eheim air automatic feeder, but was curious if there were any other recommendations out there? My only concern with this unit is it is only for flake food, and not pellets. I also plan to use this to allow more feedings per day than I have done in the past.
thanks in advance,
Jeff
I've heard both positive and negative things about auto-feeders, in general though. What exactly do you want to feed, pellets? How frequently do you want them fed? Will you need any top-offs while you're gone?
Sorry for all of the questions- I just came back from vacation last night and needed to worry about these things too.

I think the best thing you can do is make servings for each day in bags and have someone go to your house and pour in one bag in per day. Just label and explain what needs to be done. Also hide the food container from the person feeding. If you don't they may over feed, and put your tank is a mini cycle.
Good luck!

Agreed. A pill organizer works great for this too. I haven't heard of any auto feeder that is really very reliable.

I would make sure you hide the medications too...and have a vat filled and ready for topoffs. Our fish person decided to add Melafix to my girlfriend's tank, while we were away last week, because one of her female bettas "looked pale."
It could've been worse but you never know what some people may do, even with specific instructions and things pre-made for them.
