About three days ago I got my first fish. I got a true Percula and at the guy at the LFS said try the flake food first. So now all he does is spit it out and the peppermint shrimp seem to eat the left overs (thats good?) but should I switch to brine? or see if he will take the flake?

yes, you could try switching to more of a meaty food..None of my fish will touch flake food if i try and feed it, just the shrimp..I am a firm beliver of providing meaty foods to fish anyway, gives them a good diet...

Just because a fish spits out food doesn't mean he isn't eating some of it.

Mine used to do that too but I knew they were still eating because they were getting fat!

Clowns are omnivores so you can try try the meaty foods as recommended, or even something like spirulina. Sometimes mine even pick off of the hanging seaweed.

sometimes the food is to big or the taste isnt good, also unhealthy fish will sometimes not eat right. u can try something like garlic xtreme or garlic guard.
