I went to look at it today with my filter to get some measurement ideas for the refugium I'm building this weekend, and to my surprise, it's almost done!!!! Sorry I'm just so excited I had to share! It's for a 58 gallon aggressive tank :D

Your uncle is quite a craftsman(as the scrap wood pile in the background will prove).

Yeah I was amazed when I saw it, he's made everything himself, including the groovings!

great stand! wonderful paint job as well.
I think it looks great how it is but the paint isn't done yet, he's going to put the clear coat on that will give it gloss.

That looks very very good!!! He must be very an experience carpenter, I would say. I built a stand for a 29 gallon but it doesn't look as nice. Although, I have never worked with wood before. But it turned out alright. I bought a 72 gallon bow front tank and will start today to build a stand for it. It will probably take me a couple of weeks since I could only work on it probably an hour a day or so. I will post my pictures when I'm done. But I definitely think that stand looks great.

Putting off the sump until I get get some Weld-On. Local stores didn't have it, had to buy it online. But here's some pictures of the stand completed, the tank trim will be painted black also.

I'd leave the tank trim as is. It looks really nice as it picks up the wood in your shelving unit. Great stand!!! He should go into business here. Send the stand in easy to assemble parts!!

Well I don't think he wants to go into business. He works pretty hard as it is, he only worked on mine in his spare time. But the stand wont be in that room, it will be in my bedroom, I have a black bedroom set. Plus it will look funny with a black stand, black sand, and brown trim :D

High resolution photos of where it will sit. A canopy is in the works!

I painted the bottom half and it started flaking off when rubbed pretty hard. The spray can said flakes can be dangerous because they contain lead and has been proven in the State of California to cause cancer, I thought "Phew! Thank god I live in Oklahoma!" As I was unaware that geographical locations played a part in my immunities to cancer. ;)

A canopy is in the works that will hang over the wood trim, it'll be safer for my fishes that way :)
