I'm going to be leaving Friday-Sunday, I was wondering if my fry will be fine for those few days. There about 3 weeks old now...

Your best bet would have been to put in a brine shrimp hatchery (the inside aquarium type) about 3 days ago.

I wonder if a nylon stocking filled with Infusoria would work, i.e. a small nylon bag of infusoria so that it is slowly released?

Maybe add a big hunk of java moss? Feed them right before you go and leave the lights out or really low to keep them from getting too awake and peppy...
I've left for that long and come home to dying fry... it wasn't a pretty picture. Is there someone who can come in and put some frozen bbs in on Saturday?

I did put a big hunk of java moss in there... I don't know of anyone that could come in and feed them.

I have a sponge filter thats full of leftover food from them that I haven't cleaned in a while, they pick at it when their hungry...
or what about those feeding tabs you put in the tank?

feeding tabs are worth a try...should you post this under "General Freshwater" rather than here to get more responses on this?

feeding tabs are not worth a try. they cause more harm then good. if you cant get someone to come in and fed them then hope for the best. if they had fry once hope they will do it again.

I can't get anyone to come feed them.. The parents aren't in the tank any longer, its a fry-only tank.
I have an auto feeder and some First Bites... but I think that the First Bites is to small of a particulate to use an auto feeder. My gf suggested taping the end of it so there's a really small space for the FB to go through...

sounds like its worth a try, is it one of those autofeeders that you can run air through?

let us know what happened when you returned!

must be wrrying going away for the weekend.

my wife wants me to set up a webcam to watch the tank when we go away in hols this year!

I ended up just leaving the light off and didn't put anything in there. All but 3 survived the weekend. Oh well, at least I still have 200..

Great stuff, glad to hear it - hope you still enjoyed your weekend?

There was about 10 more that died stuck to the back of the filter intake.
Weekend was hectic, our first baby shower...

Well, the losses weren't too bad considering. I wonder, if this happened again, how would you handle it next time?

I think I would give the automatic feeder a shot.. and tape the hole to allow for smaller portions of food to get into the tank. Seems like the most logical choice... and I've also heard those feeding tabs work great for fry..
Try and error I guess.
