I jsy set up my 55 about a week ago and a friend of mine gave me some LR that has been out of the water for a little while not to sure how long it was still wet and has never went dry. There is no smell but some of the pieces have some brown spots on them. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these spots are. Any info will help.

the brown spots could simply be a little die-off or diatom algae really...could you provide a picture of it?

ok thank you for the advice I think that I will add it to the tank my protein skimmer I got the other day keeps putting tons of micro bubbles into the water is this ok?

its not really desirable...can clog and kill sponges and gorgorians...give it some time it should get worked in.

ok, so I should let the skimmer run and at some time the bubble will go away?

She has also given me a 4 stripe damsel, I wanted to wait to put fish in but she was getting rid of everything so I figured I would give him a chance

damsels are a pain later on..real aggressive and territorial...

thanks I didn't really know if I liked the rock set up or I needed to do anything else with it. I'm new at this so anything helps.

personally, i think it should left as it is...It looks nice and little natural..It provides paths for fish to swim through, little overhangs for them to shelter from the light and sleep holes or areas for the fish...So, yeah, i like it....
