I just bought a cyclone 100 for my 55 and all I get when I add air to the line is small air bubbles in the tank is this harmful or is it normal until it goes through it's cycle

That can be normal when it goes through the cycle. I know some would recommend to rinse it thoroughly with warm water before using it, to help break it in. I personally dislike the bubbles. I know some of the skimmers have a mod you can do to decrease the amount of bubbles going into the tank. I did it with both of mine but I have Coralife skimmers. Maybe someone familiar with your brand will chime in here. I would wait it out before trying anything though. Sometimes they just go away in a few days or weeks after it's broken in.
