Help, please! Strange growth in tank

I have tiny little white, slightly clumpy stem-looking things all over my plants. It was only on my corksrew val, but now it has spread to everything, and is starting on the driftwood. I have an algae-eating shrimp, but he hasn't had any effect.

It doesn't move - it isn't hydra.

What is it, and how could I get rid of it? :help:

hmm.. white, clumpy stem-looking... any chance of providing pics? Maybe it's a fungus.
