Aquari-sol Confusion :(

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to treat ick with Aquari-sol, but I'm really confused with the instructions on the back.

It says to take the carbon filters out. Is that because the filter filters out the medication? And the 12 drops per 10 gallon dose, do you add it on the daily basis with NO filter in place for as long as it takes to treat the ich? Do you overdose the fish on Aquari-sol by adding 12 drops per 10 gallon everyday? Also, what happens if you change the water?

yes take the carbon out of your filter but leave your sponge/bio media in there. with the treatment im not 100% sure. i'd say get it to the 12drops per 10g and dont add anymore unless you do a PWC then when you at the fresh water dose it to the same level to keep it at 12drops per gallon.
after saying that meds are quite stressful to fish a better option is to use a salt/heat treatment for 2 weeks to get rid of it.

also if you have smaller fish i think your ment to do half dose. but i'm not 100% sure so wait for someone else who has used the product to give some advice. before using it

I'd forget about Aquari-sol and treat ich with the salt and heat method, which is the safest for fish and IMO the most effective.

imo i would use heat and salt, aruarisol is horrible. and if you have inverts it will kill them . but yes if u want to use it take out the carbon of the filter.

I would use the temp/salt method....If i remember right "aqua-sol" will also stain everything green

I have used it in the passed haven't gotten great results but it helped. You dose every day and it will not stain your silicone. Leave the filter on and take out all the carbon. Feed less because you should be doing water changes while the treatment is in progress. Also treat 12 drops per 10 gal every day until it is gone usually 2-3 weeks hope this helps.
