if it's fertile, then you should be able to see a little through the eggs.. (correct me if i'm wrong) from my experience with my cons at least, their eggs were a little translucent.. i could see black dots in them.. might be different for jds

alright, hopefully someone with some input on jds will tell me.
thanks,

After the male fertilizes them it only takes three days to hatch. If they turn white, they are not good and will begin to rot. The female will usually start to eat them or pick them out if they others are viable. This prevents the rotten eggs from causing problems with the viable eggs.
You will know they are viable, the eggs will be fairly translucent (with a bit of a peach/tan hue to them) and you should begin to see two black little eyes or a backbone.
Again, it only takes 56-72 hours for them to hatch and then they are very small and will all be balled together in the gravel. Mom and Dad will be very protective of them.
Our pair spawned at Easter. The remaining fry (only about 30 of the original 200+) are about 1/4 inch and the pair are ready to spawn again. So of course the lil' guys are now becoming more a bit of a snack.
I hope that helps.

BP Turf? Is that the plastic grass the fry hide in? I don't know this product.
