How often should I feed them (if they look chubby)?
Should I feed them during the day? or at night?
How long can I leave those algae wafers? I've read places that say no more than 2 hours.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have algae in your tank? I feed mine about every other day. How many oto's do you have? I feed mine at night and I don't usually give them a whole algae wafer. I just give them two small peices of an algae wafer. Usually when I wake up in the morning the peices of algae wafer is gone.

I have two otto's in a 20 Gallong tank. I've heard of what you said, drop 2 1/4 size pieces at night every other night. I do have algae, and they're getting big and fat, but I'm sure it will run out soon so I want to make sure I can give them the adequate diet that they should have.
As for leaving it over night, that was one of my main concerns. I was scared that if I left them overnight, it would cause some sort of water problems. Thanks for your info!

I have never had success in attempting to feed otos. But then I have also not needed it. They get plenty of food on their own.

I drop a small algae tablet in about every other night. I use the whole thing because not only do my otos eat it, but my snail and platies love it too. Even my Danios like to go and pick at it and it's always gone by morning. I also blanch zucchini every couple weeks for them as a nice treat and they really love it although it took a few attempts before they realized it was food, then they wouldn't leave it alone.

This is my experience as well. Anything else that you put in for them to feed is just extra and probably not required.

I have 2 otos in my 10G and 2 in my 20G. I drop a cucumber slice in there with a plant anchor to hold it down about once every two weeks. I keep it in there for about 3 days or so. The otos and the snails eat most of it during that time. I figure the otos survive on algae just fine for the rest of the time, but I like to make sure they are well fed.

Okay, I'll try to do the veggies about once a week, and I'll leave it there for about a day or two...or until is starts to break apart. I'll also drop an algae wafer in the tank overnight every other day.
