What a let down...

Fish coloration, behavior, and most other characteristics including how charming they might be WILL almost always change once you get them home and treat the with some affection! Proper varied diet, water quality, proper lighting, tank size etc will all make your fish a lot happier.

oh definitely. one of my darlings was a carnival win, another just a nice-colored feeder, another a petsmart rescue... none of them were particularly interesting in that setting or at that age. now, a little older and in a much nicer home, they all have their own very distinctive personalities.
