Right ive decided to scrap the idea of the 30 odd gallon tank and im going to go for a 50 gallon 92cm x 41cm(deep) x 55cm(high)
i aim to keep in it
1 x clown loach
1 x red tailed black shark
9/10 x zebra danios
and some angels, how many angels do you think this set up could house?
again i will have it well planted
I would skip the clown loach. Clown loaches should be kept in groups of 5+ and really need a much larger tank than this.

The clown loach would grow to be too big for this set up, as it grows up to 1 foot in length. you could keep it in there an then buy a bigger tank when it grows bigger. I would say you could keep 2-3 angels in there. watch out for the red tailed shark they can sometimes be nippy towards angels(ventral fins)

ok then so probably 3 angels as ive heard they are better in odd numbers
for the bottom dwellers what do you recommend instead of the clown loach and red tail black shark as it seems they might not get on well, maybe a few corries?

Clown loaches should really be kept in groups, and a small group would outgrow this tank in about a year. Unless the plan is to purchase a larger tank in the next year it does not make sense to purchase them. Please read this for more information about clown loach care:

If you want something that looks like a shark and isn't so agressive get an SAE and for bottom feeders some smaller botia like yoyo loaches.

If you want to get loaches then you could do a group of five smaller loaches, such as kuhli, zebra, chain, or angelicus.

With zebra danios, your tank will be really active!
Those little bugs just keep on moving and moving and ... moving! (like energizer rabbit). When feeding time comes, it's cool to watch!

hoplo or porthole cats for the bottom.
