I vac at least once a week, of course with lighter substrate it's mutch more noticeable....

At least weekly.

Fry tanks/bare bottom, daily.

We also use Crushed Coral, Darker substrate would definitely hide debri, but the out of site out of mind theory doesn't work for me....

Tank is heavily planted, not much substrate that isnt covered by plants. I dont vac that often, and usually only to suck up dead plant leafs or something that is laying on top the gravel. Two other tanks are sand (still with plants though) and they dont see much gravel vac either since the sand doesnt really let stuff in and the Eheim casnister seems to create a good flow and keeps the sand clean.

I don't gravel vac, I use sand substrate, and if there is poo on the bottom an hour with a powerhead on solves that problem.

Every other week in my 60g w/2 large goldfish. The Eheim canisters do a great job.

Twice during every water change on all my tanks. Thats where 80% of the 50% water change is made. The other 20% is surface skinning.
