ive seen this thing at walmart and it has shrimp and squid and mussels and octopus and fake crab meat in it maybe even scallops. the mussels look like they have butter congealed on them and the fake crab doesnt look like it would be good for fish. but some of the other stuff looks like it could be chopped up and served to medium sized fishes. [2-3"+]

has anybody every tried this? wonder what the yellow stuff is on the mussels..?

suppose they dip it in chlorinated water to kill the fishy smell? i have heard some fish markets do that to shrimp.

i'm not brave enuff to be the first one to try this, but i am curious to know if anybody else has.

I have no scientific evidence to back this up by my first hunch would be that any cooked or processed seafood, or any food for that matter, would not be good for a fish digestive tract. Maybe someone else knows more about it, but why not spend your money on some raw shrimp instead? I know they like that.

i know the package said previously frozen but i'm not sure if it was previously cooked. i'll take a look the next time i'm there to make sure the shrimp is grey [natural] instead of pink [cooked].

We buy a similar product from the grocery store to feed out marine predators. Cooked foods can be fed, but will lack much of the nutritional value of the raw foods. Anything that has any sort of additives--ie, butter, garlic, would be a no-no. The stuff we get is supposed to be used for gumbo type soups, and contains nothing but raw, frozen squid, mussel, clam, scallops, and fish. We chop it into even smaller bits and refreeze.
