I was at PetSmart today and they had a big discontinue sign on the Marineland Seaclone 150. I am looking into salt water aquariums in the future, somewhere around 150 gallons, and was wondering if I should pick this up since it is clearanced at a cheap price. $66.00 is what it is clearanced at. Assuming all parts are there and it is in brand new condition, is it a great buy or not really? Thanks!

I don't think that is a good idea, I bought one but return the next day, the noise is way too loud for most people and the micro bubble issue...hard to adjust....hard to make it skim well.......
try and check the online for some reviews see if you are ok with those issues, but you can always return it if you don't like it ^_^
there are better skimmers out there..

You have to change out the valve for another one (stock one is crap) and you have to wrap the pump up in filter floss... The pump tends to leak micro bubbles. As for noise I had mine in my bedroom for a while and was fine with it.
IMO you would need 2 or 3 150's for a 150g... skimmers are almost always over rated to a varying degree by the manufacturer and once you factor in the inefficiency of the seaclone's design it's really only good enough for a 50g IMO.

I have one of those and a coralife super skimmer and I would say the coralife is 10x the skimmer the seaclone is.

yeah, i got one of those and i'm kicking myself in the bum for it. i will be returning it and purchasing something better.
too hard to make it skim well and not throw billions of micro bubbles in my tank. not worth even the clearance price i paid...
