The image works for me if I enter the link manually into a fresh iexploder window...

Sounds like your host limits the requests/bandwidth allowed per day.

I'm just trying to upload the pictures to webspace, but this Brinkster crap won't let me "publish" my page. I think I should stick to banging rocks together in my cave. *grunt*

Most 'free-sites' or site you get free with your ISP don't allow direct-linking, OR they limit the amount of views / times accessed / bandwidth allowed per day. This usually pisses people off enough to BUY space from them to be able to do whatever you want with. Personally, I bought web hosting space for $60/yr at hostonce.com to not only host my band's site but to share hiking trip photos and anything else I need to direct-link to. It's worth $5 a month to not only host my site on unlimited bandwidth but to be able to share my photos freely. The download speeds are capped at about 20kbps, but that's fast enough for 128 kbps mp3s and most jpg / gif photos.
