How many have switched salts in a established tank? Now Im am using instant ocean and have for a long time. But I hear that reef crystals doesnt drop the ph like IO. I always have to add buffer. Is is ok just to switch?

I did....i used IO for many months, then switch to reef crystals....just chnaged over gradually in the water changes......One of the reasons why i changed is because of the buffering, i done have to with RC...

I just changed...didn't really notice any difference. Even my fish in qt which are getting 100% water changes every other day didn't seem to mind.

What did switch from and to and why?

I personally switched from 'aquatic gardens' or whatever petco's brand is to instant ocean.

I originally bought the petco stuff because, with a pals card, i could get buy one get 1 50% off or something...

Well, now with 2 tanks and this quarantining thing I'm doing, i'm going through the salt, and the little bags just aren't enough...

So i switched to instant ocean and bought a big pail of it. It was $60 for the pail, and I'm hoping it lasts a while...plus it's a notoriously good brand, so....

I just ordered some instant ocean, perhaps I should of ordered Reef Crystals since my pH from the RO is 6.2...

i used instant ocean for 7months then thought my soft corals wanted/deserved more so i switched to reef crystals did not notice any big changes but just knowing your giving the extra in the salt is enough to do it i did it with 10% water changes every week...

I might switch to reef crystals. IO always pulls down my ph when I do water changes then I have to add buffer.

I just changed from io to rc because of the algae read some where on here that rc would help with the algae but not sure I order mine from foster and smith it seems to be a good price for me hope that I didn't do anything wrong quess I will see since I did a water change today about 10%
