Has anyone out there SUCESSFULLY kept a large mouth bass in a FW aquarium? Specifically what requirements did the fish have that were out of the ordinary? I am thinking along the lines of a 125 gallon tank, but am unsure as to the current I should be creating, etc., etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Best advice I can offer: www.nanfa.org

Great resource for keeping native fish in the aquarium.

Along time ago probably 15 years or so my parents kept a juvenile large mouth bass in a 29 gallon aquarium until it got to big then it was released in a pond. I think the only filter they had was a underground filter. I cant remember but I think it might have also had a juvenile oscar in the tank.

I remember they would feed it small crayfish. I live in louisiana so they are in abundunt supply here.

Crayfish are one thing I've got an overabundance of... them and algae. :D Feeding the LM Bass isn't the issue, I am just trying to accurately recreate his natural environment, and perhaps grow a 7 pounder!

i used to keep a small largemouth in a 55 gallon we would feed them night crawlers, and shinners. also you can feed them crayfish. although i do beleive it is illegal to keep game fish in most states ;) plus a fish like that isnt meant to be kept in a fish tank, its meant to be in a large body of water

You might want to check with your local wildlife authorities to see if its legal. I know there is a size limit on caught LM bass so it might be illegal if you caught it.

Fish need to be dredged in cornmeal and fried...um ummmm Yummy!

bass is nasty. eat salmon or something that doesnt need to be rolled in this or spiced with that. bass has no taste, i have no idea why people eat them.... if you like the taste of butter and lemon then eat butter and lemon, cause thats what it will taste like on bass ;)

bass are not a stocked fish, well not that i know of anyways, everyone keeps them, and its a fish that is probably worth more alive than dead :)you can only eat a fish once, but you can catch it many times
