to keep live plants with convicts? I've witnessed the landscaping behavior, i.e. moving rocks around. There are places in the tank they don't bother however, and so I thought maybe, I could put some plants there...

Convicts generally love to uproot and destroy plants, but if you go with either Amazonian Swords Plant or Java Fern and place some rocks around the base to protect it, you should be ok. Good luck!

They can be pretty destructive. I'd keep the plants potted and protected with decor.

Java moss would work, it doesn't have to be rooted in the substrate (or anywhere else for that matter).
