Pistol Shrimp

I've noticed a little hitchiker that pops his head out late at night, and from what i can tell of his body shape he resembles a pistol shrimp. Do these shrimp come in any discriminate colouration as this ones looks as though it could be white with some light brown markings, and most of the pictures i can find of these are all a red colouration. sorry i can't explain further or get a photo as he's got himself quite a nifty hiding spot.

Nope, Pistols come in all manner of colours....some dull, while others are very bright in colour...The only to think of is, make sure its not a mantis shrimp....There are loads of picture of Mantis shrimp if you do a google search on them...

yeh thanks i've allready written it of as being a mantis shrimp, its definitely a true shrimp of some kind, i'll keep spying on it and try and snap a pic in the hope someone will know what it is
