Newbie Ferts for a 55 Gallon

Well, I'm back from the store with my Flourish, Flourish Iron, Flourish Tabs, stump remover, No-Salt, and last but not least a Fleet enema. I have 1.5-2 watts/gal with flourescent lighting, and have the following plants on a 2-2.5" 80% Flourite/20% sand substrate: Amazon Sword, Crypt Wendtii, Crypt Lutea, Water Wisteria, Java Fern, Java Moss, Vallisnaria, Hornwort, Anubias Frazeri, and some Pygmy Chain Swords. I've been through the site, but never really have seen what dosages or frequencies people use with the above nutrients for a 55 gallon tank...eg...how do you mix and dose the Stump Remover, etc? I could really use your help! Thanks in advance...this is a great site with obviously knowledgeable aquarists.

they seem to have a bit more than flourish....





you're gonna need some co2 for sure though, and probably 1-2 MORE wpg (ie 3-4wpg) otherwise the plants won't be able to use all those nutrients and you'll have some mad algae spikes...

Is your stump remover pure KNO3?

jmarsh: I hope you did not spend a dollar to save a dime. You can get enough bulk dry nutrients to last a 55 gallon tank pretty close to a year for $18.10 shipped. And you don't have to monkey with the dosing questions since the dosing for bulk dry nutrients has all been worked out.
 
I guess when you put too much in perhaps. Flourish Excell provides good co2 levels and is more efficient than DIY co2 and cheaper than normal co2 systems. I use DIY co2 and give it a boost with Flourish Excell and it does wonders with only tiny doses of fert. I have a lot of fish though and their waste means I rarely have to fert just inject co2.

I dunno what stump remover is.

I just found this handy info for plant fertilising which I am looking into. It is very scientific reading at the moment but I have only just started. I still have to figure out where I can buy such elements to mix together to make the stuff though.
