Would I be wasting my time with something like this?

I have a 20L LRFO in my bedroom and I was thinking about adding a small fuge to it. on it I am running a Aqua clear 70 off the side and a Cascade 150 on the back.

Now here's what I was thinking Option 1 would be to take the 150 and block off part of the intake area to have a down flow to the media area put as much cheato as I can fit and just have it run into the tank.

Option 2 would be to get a hang on plastic breeder tank or something on that line and put it inside the tank with the 150 flowing into it and over flow into my tank. With a larger area I was thinking I might add some live sand, cheato and maybe some live rock rubble.

Option 3 :look:

Has anyone here tried anything like this or would the small size be a waste of time?

Quite a few people use AquaClears (and similar type filters) as refugiums for their nano tanks, and it appears to do the job. Here's a link on how to convert an AC 70 into a mini fuge.
