I got a pair of Albino Kribs a few weeks ago. Although I have lots of luck when getting pairs, it was still a toss-up whether they would be a male and female pair and whether they would be compatible with each other. I guess I was lucky again since I did get a male and a female which have paired up and have spawned.

This evening, I saw some babies in the unused uptake tube for the UGF (2 to be exact). They must be the kribs as the only other inhabitants with them are some male guppies, which they have left alone. They have the shape of the normal-coloured kribensis babies but are white, just like the parents.

The male, which was growing quite rapidly, has just reached 2" while the female was only 1.5". I would assume that since this is their first time that they aren't used to protecting the babies yet.

Also, I had to move the female as the male was becoming aggressive and doesn't want the female to get any of the babies that he was finding in the gravel. I will be keeping them separated from each other until the female has reached the 2" mark.

The only problem that I have is that they seem to be hard to find within the gravel. They are also able to navigate through the gaps in the gravel bed. They just swim into the gravel bed and pop up in another location.

I just have one question. If the male was aggressive towards the female during the first spawn, would that indicate that the male will be aggressive towards the female in any future spawns and that he should be removed after the eggs have been fertilized?

i am not an expert by no means on breeding kribs, but i recently got some myself so i have been reading up on them and an interesting article i read from a breeder was you need chaser fish in the tank to stop the parents turning on each other, they both have to be pre occupied protecting the fry by chaseing off other fish (something fast like a rummy nose or cherry barbs) and if they don't have these chaser style fish then they can turn on each other

like i said i am not an expert but it sounds like this might be your problem

I'll probably get some dither fishes, maybe some barbs of some sort and then bring both kribs back together once the are passed the 2" mark, or maybe even the 3" mark.

TY for the response.
