I have a Snowflake Eel that has not eaten (that I know of) in a month or a little longer. I heard this could be normal (and i have some empty snail shells so he may be 'snacking'). This is a two part question:

1. I noticed that the area around his mouth is dotted with red marks. My first thought was that he has injured himself and is bleeding...then my brain took over and i realized that I wouldn't see him bleeding on the outsided b/c he is in water...duh. I would like to know if anyone knows what this is. Could it be an internal injury, maybe he hurt his teeth chewing on my friggin' snails!!!!LOL

2. If he is not sick and doesn't die what are the best foods to feed him? I have been using frozen krill defrosted with cyclopeeze in the dish for my corals thinking his appetite my become stimulated by this...nothing...I have literally touched his nose with the krill and he doesn't do a thing...

Please help if you can,
CM

I think you need live foods like shrimp to get him eatting.

i woudl guess the redness would be a sign of a bacterial infection. could you please get a picture of it?
live foods may be the best thing to get him to eat. Eels often go a while without eating, but i have never heard/seen a month. Also, try soaking some of the food in a garlic product, or even with pieces of crushed garlic in the water while defrosting the krill. silversides and squid also works well.
