Hello everyone,
Yesterday i picked up my tank (finally) and have been working at it ever since!!.I brought as much water as possible, got new aragonite sand 90 lbs .120 lbs live rock..30 gallon sump/fugr(not running yet) still making ro/di water. the inhabitants include a cucmber, severaly zoos, mushrooms 2 real pretty clams,2 starfish, and a lot of tiny starfish as well,2 clows w/hosting anemonie, pj cardinal, 6in hippo tang, and a sailfin tang...no much for a cuc a couple of snails...and there was a lot of hair algae.
My parameters are:
ph-8
alk-in the normal range
kh-between 8 and 9
phos-<0.03
nh4-0
no2-10
no3-10
sg-35 ppm
i have the fish in a tub with fresh saltwater...everything seems to be doing fine...so far, zooz opened up as well as the clams and shrooms, starfish and cucumber are active i was wondering if im having a cycle? i dont want to add the fish to the tank till i get the fuge running, so im monitoring the water in the tub holding them...any advice on the parameters? Thanks for your advice

i would say that there is the possibility that you are having a mini cyle...Once your nitrite goes back down to zero and the nitrates settle down, the you ok to get the fish back in the tank....you could also prolly do with raising the pH up to about 8.2 - 8.4.....

another question as i test...make more water and test again...i was only able to about 85 or 90 gallons from the original set up...i have been making ro/di ever since...do you think i will have a cycle due to all the new water, im adding approx 60 gallons ..i have the fish in a rubbermaid tub and have been monitoring the water since sunday(all is well) im just concerned about haveing a cycle.
Thanks
