Hi all I joined the site a few days ago and have found it very informative. Thanks!

My specific question(s) regard my 55g tank.

I have a standard 55 with laterite mixed in the gravel.
I have planted Java ferns, Sag, Anubius, Java Moss, and two others I forget the name of (One is a tall weedy looking grass about 12-15 inches, and the other is a nice thick spiralling plant about 10 inches) I also have a small bit Chin water lettuce for the Gouramis to hide under. My tank is kind of a common tropical...1) 4 inch plec, Panda Cories, Zebras, Pair of Sunset Honey Fire Gouramis, Yoyo loaches, and 6 Bosemani Rainbows 1 real SAE.

My CO2 (if my measurements are right ,PH and Hardness) is keeping me between 10 and 13.

I'm currently using no external CO2, have been considering using the homemade 2 liter solution (with 2 bottles offseting their start by 1 week ) as I don't have room for the CO2 tank etc.

Getting to the real question My tank has a very attractive wood canopy on it. Right now the top of the tank is the typical... glass covers, 40 watt strip light on top, the canopy covers that and has 2 glass lids on that. There is probably 4-5 inches of space inside the canopy(the strip light doesn't come to the top and has a clearance of probably 2-3 inches.) I use suction cup in tank LEDs for night time.

I would like to add some lighting to get me up to at least 2 wpg. What can I use that will allow me to keep my wood canopy on the tank, that also will not require me installing any additional fans other than what may come with the fixture. (That also won't over heat the water at the top of the tank) and I guess I have concern over the escape artist type fish if I pull the glass panals completely off.(Mine have never tried escaping but have heard/read loaches etc do try.)

Like I said fairly noob question.

I appreciate in advance any help,
Thanks,
M
