I noticed yesterday that my algae blenny was a bit quite then last night and this morning he just seemed to be staying down int he same corner at the front of the tank. Even when I tapped the glass lightly he didn't move away. I have tested the water this morning and the results are: Ammonia - 0.25!, Nitrite - 0, Nitrate - 0, salinity - 0.023 and temperature 26. Other than the ammonia everything is as it normaly is, other than a water change is there anything else I can do? does this mean that something has died in my tank somewhere? The other fish and shrimp seem fine.

I don't see the goby too often but did see him yesterday mid afternoon and he looked ok, can never see all the crabs at once so couldn't say if one of those is missing! I did a water change the day before yesterday but the other fish are ok and I did it the same way I always do. The water was at the same levels as the tank water was. I am mixing saltwater as we speak to do water change - is this ok? He has moved now but I don't seem to be seeing as much of him as normal - although I don't watch the tank as much as I am now!

Can i just ask what the reason for another water change so soon? Just for info...

Check your water results again tomorrow and see what the ammonia reading is, as the active bacteria should be able to convert that to nitrite under their own accord...

If there is no deffective signs on the fish, I.E the fish looks in good condition, not breathing heavily, is going for food ok, i would just monitor it to be honest. It could have been stressed out from something that has happened in the tank.

The raised ammonia could be put down to something dieing, of maybe some food that you have fed is still in the tank and is the cause of the raised ammonia...

Thought I should do water change because of high amonia level. Just seen goby again so it's not him!

yes, I tested water because blenny seemed very lethargic.
