Welcome to the June 2007 Photo Of The Month competition.

Voting is now open to everybody, one vote only per person.

There will be a limited 14 days voting period, followed by the selection of a winner with the highest number of votes from AquariaCentral.com . If in the instance of more than one winner is selected (same number of votes), a secondary 7 days voting would be held to determine the winner.

The winner of the previous months POTM contest will not be eligible to enter another Photo of the Month Contest for the next three months, to ensure fairness and opportunity for other participants to win.

Discussion thread can be found here. (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112745)

I just want to re-itterate a point that is in the Rules and Guidelines for this competition, aswell as TOTM..

- Photo must not had been tampered, manipulated, or distorted. Quality of photo is to be determined by Aquaria Central & Monster Fish Keepers Staff Team.

Image manipulation, or if an image is suspected of manipulated will be instantly disqualified from the competition. If is unfair on people who submit a legitimate photograph from their aquaria and have to compete against "somebody" who is using image editting software.

Wow there were so many, it seems a shame to only be able to pick 1 favorite.

I voted for #33, but also thought #15, #16, #28, #34, & #56 were outstanding!

All were great photos but 21 and 31 stood out to me, i wish i could vote twice. 31 should get something for being so hilarious, whoever took that pic has good timing

#46 - because it looks like a tiny part of nature, and I do like that kind of tank.

All the pictures were very pleasing to look at. I enjoyed them all. There was one however that really stood out to me photographically. The over all sharpness of the entire image as well as the soft natural lighting and the natural look of the scene set it apart. I voted for that one.

i dont think its special as it looks...due to the fact that goldfish ALWAYS gasp like that.its not as if one has to wait for a random moment like fish yawning or something out of nowhere.

what is the type of fish in pic #22? what types of fish can he be housed with?

It is a polypterus delhezi or delhezi bichir. It's a preadatory fish and usually it can be housed with non aggressive fish that's big enough not to be eaten.

I also like 13 for some reason. ( kind of look like they're posing!) Also liked 31 and two with bubbles nd plants. Decisions. Guess I'll have to vote with my first impression.

I voted for 21. I love how it makes you feel like you're in some alien world and not just looking in a fish tank. The textures and colors just worked for me. My other choices were 12 and 18.

I loved the colors and the image in 12, but the blurriness was the deciding factor for me. If it would've been a clear shot, I'd have given it first place and my vote.

I also loved 18 for it's simplicity, whimsy and composition... but it didn't have much going on and in the end I had to retire it to third in my roster.

who voted for mine? (#36) you must have accidentally clicked the wrong number.

For the sake of fairness in the compitition, can we not state which number relates to the photo you have submitted, as this could lead to favouritism..

Thanks

Thanks..

It was really hard to pick one this month though. The pearling pics in particular were nice.

No, I don't think so. Looks like Brazilian Pennywort, hydrocotyle leucocephala. (aka: Amazon Chidome in Japan.)

I was just wondering about seeing the vote totals as people vote. You think that might have an influence on how people vote?
If you couldn't see the totals, would you have voted differently?
Just curious.

A vote should always be down to the individual, and irrespective of how everyone else has voted....Its what we believe is the best photo, not what everybody else thinks...

personaly, for me, if i thought the best photo had zero votes and every other one had say 10, i would still for my same choice...as that is the one that "I" believe to be photo of the month..

Thanks for that different aspect at looking at vote results Discusman54, it was a point well put across..
