Anyone have any experience with a Colbalt Blue Lobster?

Before someone asks...I have a 120 gal tank.

no experience, but i think they have specific feeding requirements

apparently when they moult you leave the skin in the tank beacuse they eat it

and cant be kept with fish either...

i'd also heard aquarium should have some access to a little land or surface, not that they use it much

From the website:

They are territorial towards their own kind, and a larger aquarium will be needed if housing more than one. Provide at least 20 gallons per Lobster and include plenty of cover including both rocks and plants.

The Hammers Cobalt Blue Lobster is generally peaceful, except with its own kind. They will not typically bother fish, unless they are very small, and slow enough for the lobster to catch. These Lobsters are omnivorous, and will act as a scavenger in the aquarium, eating any food that comes to rest on the bottom. Supplement their diet with a quality sinking pellet, flake food and dried algae.

some fish are so small or sluggish, they will be eaten especially at night. they also eat plants. large cichlids eat the crawfish easily. provide a cave so it can hide at day and to shed. the best tankmates would probably have to be small -medium sized cichlids in my opinion. adult tinfoils and balas would be too big and fast as well

Got one in a 55 gal.
Been there over four months.
Has NOT killed anything.
I say again, has NOT killed anything.
Nothing in the tank bothers it.
He has grown from an inch to about four inches.
Also in the same tank, 8 Albino Corys, that sleep on the bottom, two upsidedown cats about three inches long. One cat sleeps under the same rock as the lobster, different side.
The lobster will move small rocks around and I do blame him for uprooting a couple plants.
He has lost his skin once, at about two inches. The skin was neat, pinchers, legs, tail , everything. Don't know how he got out of it, I looked it over real good. It was neat. Go for it, they are fun to watch.
Good luck.
Edit to add, mine does love bloodworms.

Only thing I know about them is that they do not do well with beer. Few years ago at my friends I was helping him transfer his 33 gallon contents into his new 55 G and he so happened to have a Cobalt Blue Lobster. Of course a project like this required some brew to ease things up, and somehow some beer got spilled into the 33 with the last remaining little guy... which happened to be the Lobster and he didn;t last too long after that.

Was a sad day.

I was able to pick up one of these at one of my lfs. They had just got them in stock, so they were brown. There was no price and when I asked the owner said they were $4.00. I picked one up on the spot (eventhough I didn't have a good home for it. Needless to say, he's (she's) now happy in my 45ish tank, and with each molt turns more blue. From what I've read, this species of crayfish will reproduce with minimal work, but requires a well seasoned environment.

Take a look at my avatar to see my hammer.
